The specific way an ultrasonic toothbrush functions influences how it is used. Conventional toothbrushes are moved across the rows of teeth, and the biofilm is scrubbed away through mechanical movement. Our sophisticated ultrasonic technology works almost contact-free and, most importantly, without mechanical motion. The motto here is brushing teeth without scrubbing. Simply hold the brush head lightly against your teeth. In addition to the ultrasonic toothbrush, use a special ultrasonic toothpaste. 75 milliliters is enough for approximately four to six weeks of use.

The bristles of the emmi-dent generally cover two to three teeth. After a short pause—usually six seconds is sufficient—move the ultrasonic toothbrush to the next teeth. With all emmi-dent models (except for the emmi-dent Platinum Care, which operates completely silently and without vibration), you will receive a haptic (the vibration stops briefly after approx. 6 seconds) and acoustic (a quiet beep) signal to move to the next tooth or teeth. Repeat this process until all teeth have been cleaned. For heavy soiling or discoloration, a longer cleaning time is recommended. As with all other toothbrushes, brushing should take at least three minutes. After the cleaning process, it is recommended to wipe away the loosened debris away from the gums and off the teeth, then rinse with water.

The first use in 6 steps:

1: Charge the device for 24 hours.
2: Attach the brush head to your emmi-dent.
3: Hold the bristles under running water.
4: Apply the emmi-dent toothpaste to the bristles.
5: Switch the device on: the LED light will now glow green.
6: You are ready to go – hold it against each tooth or several teeth for 6 seconds and enjoy brushing your teeth without scrubbing!

Difference from conventional toothbrushes:
Electric toothbrushes include rotating toothbrushes as well as sonic and ultrasonic toothbrushes. While the former usually have round brush heads that rotate alternately from left to right, sonic toothbrushes are equipped with elongated, vibrating heads. With 20,000 to 40,000 vibrations per minute, they achieve significantly higher mechanical movement than rotating brushes. Ultrasonic toothbrushes use a completely different technology. While rotating and sonic toothbrushes remove biofilm by means of mechanical movement, the emmi-dent Metallic works with up to 96 million ultrasonic vibrations per minute and requires no mechanical movement for tooth cleaning. Thus, the crucial difference lies in the method of tooth cleaning: Just like manual toothbrushes, rotating and sonic toothbrushes also clean the tooth mechanically. This so-called macro-cleaning poses a risk of injury to the gums and tooth enamel if the toothbrush is used improperly. In addition, ultrasound is able to minimize inflammation.
